Amer's is the best Acai bowl in town, no question. I don't think the standard is super high, although there's some new competition from Gabba Green and the new Ross smoothie place-- I've tried almost all the local Acai bowls though and I still think Amer's is at the top. It's worth noting, also, that on average the bowls I get here to tend to be a little better than the ones at the State st Amer's (their acai is frozen harder more often for whatever reason... But that's happened to me at this location too, just less often). As for the bowl itself, they pack the well with a variety of fruit, and their granola is very good. The most important part, the Acai, really shines through-- it's not too sweet, it's not water down or blended with other fruit, it's just really good Acai and it totally completes the bowl. It's expensive for the size of course, but that tends to be pretty standard among acai bowls.

I can't speak for much else on their gigantic menu, I've eaten a few of their sandwiches and liked the meggwich and falafel sandwich, but otherwise I tend to stick to the Acai bowls. They're by far the item to get here.

Not as clean as Wilma's, but I'll take the BOWLS here and more any time, any how.   Absolutely love this place.  Food is excellent, but the açaí bowls are to die for.

Amer's has a cozy feel with wooden decor and haphazard seating everywhere. I've never tried anything else on the menu, but the acai bowls are pretty solid. They come with a decent amount of fruit, nuts, and other toppings, and the acai is pretty good as well. They tend to be on the pricier side ($6.99 and up), but that's about par for the course for acai bowls anyways. One thing worth noting is that the staff is fairly small, especially at off peak hours, so depending on how lucky or unlucky you get with how busy they are and how many people are working, it could take anywhere from a couple minutes to half an hour to receive your order (from getting in line to getting your order). Overall, I'd definitely recommend stopping by and trying an acai bowl.

This place is prime location for a quick breakfast grab, that's for sure. I guess I came on an off day though. I met with a colleague here for breakfast at 10am on a Tuesday, and we were the ONLY customers in the place, which had me pretty worried.
The man was pleasant enough, although VERY disorganized. He pulled money out of his pocket to give me back change. My one crepe was over $9, crossing Amer's off the list for a consistent breakfast stop. Although the crepe was pretty good, it was not worth $9, and a $9 breakfast without even a coffee is not something to responsibly spend multiple times a week.
The unfortunate thing is that the decor on the inside was not high end. There were gnats flying all around my colleague and I the entire breakfast, and the place just looked worn down.
Not sure how I feel overall. Likely I'll stop in at some point during the next few years I'll be here Grad School, but not something I'd go out of my way for. So, a solid 3-star spot.

Awww, I'm sad to see that this Amer's outpost on Church street doesn't have a higher median Yelp rating. It was one of my favorite go-to places when I was an MBA student at Ross just steps away, and I was thrilled to see that it was still around on a recent trip back to town.

Then, as now, I find that their best option is their yummy pastrami and corned beef sandwiches. You might not be getting Zingerman's quality here, but you're also likely to pay only half the price, with just as satisfying a result. The reuben (hot corned beef or pastrami with swiss, sauerkraut, and Russian on grilled Jewish rye) and the Brooklyn reuben (the same thing but on pumpernickel) remain solid bets.

Perhaps the low rating is because they do too much without necessarily being good at any one thing besides the sandwiches? It's worth noting that they have a huge selection here - breakfast fare, salads, hot dogs/sausages, smoothies, acai bowls, and even froyo, so maybe it's too much for the folks here to do well? In any case, I still find the sandwiches solid, and they're open super early every day and reasonably late every night.
